Foot Introduction

A footprint is a creative way to have the students introduce themselves to to the class. For this activity you can have the students trace and cut out foot. They can choose to do just one of their feet or both.  In this activity they need to have three different medians. They are then able to decorate the foot with things that express themselves.
When decorating my footprint I used construction paper, tissue paper, markers, and crayons. I incorporated my family, friends, beliefs and interests into my footprint. I have my siblings, Guatamala, because I went on a mission trip there, track shoe, because I love running, a cross for my faith, abc's, because I want to be a teacher, a lake, beacuse I grew up on lake, and sparkles, because my nickname is sparkle girl.

The possiblities for introduction in art are endless. A good way to use this as an extension is have the student have all his family members trace their hands and create and introduction hand. The student could glue all the handprints together and bring it to class when the student is introducing themselves and their family. With this activity they are having family involvement and not only is the class learning more about the student's family, but so is the student.
